Joe Purdy

A while back I went and saw Joe Purdy perform in LA. He is in fact my favorite song writer of the past few years. If there is one person I listen to on a daily basis, it is him. Here is some goodness from the night:

The best thing about this show was there were 4 performing acts that night, but everyone was on stage the whole night helping out. When one person took the lead, the other leads would play back up, and everyone was on full rotation.  Joe brought a friend from LA on stage to jam together for the first time in a while, and they just enjoyed each others company. 

An interesting thing about this was it was Joe's last night living in LA. After moving from his parents farm in Arkansas Joe lived in LA for a good 7 years, recorded 9 albums, and got his songs on many major TV shows on ABC. He is not on a label, records himself, and has turned down many major offers. He just releases music as he makes it, as it comes out naturally. Joe said he loved LA, but sometimes you gotta just get away.  So the next morning he moved back to Arkansas to a huge plot of farm land that he bought near his parents.

(side note:  i'm getting a mandolin this Christmas, and this show sold me on knowing I needed to have one!)
